For the 10th year, Carnival proudly participated in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, uniting more than 90 team members to ride, run, walk and volunteer — all in support of a life-saving cause.
This year, the team’s dedication and spirit were stronger than ever, raising over $60,000 to fund innovative cancer research at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Beyond the fundraising, this event is a meaningful way for us to give back to the community, strengthen our connections and support those impacted by cancer.
Meet our team members who proudly participated as Living Proof, symbolizing their triumph over cancer and embodying the hope and resilience that the Dolphins Cancer Challenge inspires:
“During my time at Carnival, I was diagnosed with cancer and received exceptional treatment at the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center. Participating in the 5K was a meaningful way for me to give back and support a cause close to my heart. I’m proud to have raised money for cancer research and patient care at Sylvester. I hope my story inspires others to get involved and make a difference.” – Jamie Haynes, director of marine planning & analytics.
”In September 2023, I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery in November. Training for and participating in my first DCC in 2024 was part of my recovery, honoring family members lost to cancer. Each day offers a chance to live fully and cherish loved ones. I participate in the DCC to show we CAN fight back and WIN against cancer. This year, encouraged by coworkers, I rode with my husband and joined the Living Proof ceremony. The event unites us, and the funds raised bring hope and healing, ultimately SAVING MORE LIVES from cancer.” – Jodi Cordero, manager, Fun Experts, guest services.
”Being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2011 was shocking, especially since I’d always been healthy. After a thyroidectomy and radiation treatment at the Sylvester Cancer Institute, I’m now 13 years cancer-free. Participating in the Dolphins Cancer Challenge with the Carnival team is incredibly meaningful. The camaraderie at this event is indescribable, and I’m grateful to everyone who supports this cause.” – Stacy Pallot-Shweky, manager, CareTeam services.
“The event was more than just a ride or a walk — it was a celebration of resilience and a testament to the power of hope. As a recent survivor, it was an incredibly emotional and empowering experience. Walking alongside my Carnival family, fellow survivors and supporters, I felt a deep sense of strength and unity. When crossing the finish line, I was reminded how far I’ve come, and seeing so many people rallying for a cure filled me with gratitude. I am incredibly proud to work for a company that champions important causes.” – Victoria Castro, project coordinator, Technical Operations.
